Chesham Team 2 – Days 6,7 and 8

In the last three days a lot of progress has been made regarding the project work and morale within the team is good (especially after the discovery of flushing toilets at Brenu Beach, this lifted everyone’s spirits so much that on Sunday evening we all sat in a circle of joy singing songs from the Lion King. This may have also been partly prompted by the sugar highs and mass purchasing of cookies and fizzy drinks at the beach hut!!!) The first classroom was finished on Sunday. Special mention goes to Evelyn who led the team. On Friday we all took a trip to Elmina Castle with our Buddies where we learnt about the slave trade and witnessed the dungeons and cruelty these people suffered.

Sunday was a day in Church – something many of us had not experienced. We went to two services both in Fante, one at the RC church and a much livelier one at the Methodist Chapel. Both were well attended by buddies and local community. It was an interesting if somewhat testing way to spend three hours!

Quotes of the week

“I eat what I eat and I don’t eat what I don’t eat” – Evelyn

“Umm Antiseptic – I love the burning sensation” – Sappho

“I swear Bambi was a goat” – Immie

“Elbows creep me out they are just like chins in the middle of your arms – Sappho
