Everybody was tired but very excited. After an hour and a half drive we arrived at a quiet Birmingham airport (Being 2 hours early for check in definitely wasn’t the best part of the journey). We were all so eager to get going yet there was one thing that we were all so much more intrigued to find… food. Once fed and checked in we were all less cranky and just looking forward to get a great trip. Through customs and into duty free where Mr. Pickup’s first and only thought was to buy some whisky!!!. We raced to the plane and after a short flight we arrived at Brussels airport. We transferred to our next plane and had a 7 hour flight to Accra. Although the flight was very long and tiring, we all enjoyed it a lot, especially seen as the flight attendants kept on giving us free chocolates. Once we arrived at Accra airport we were quickly through security and then straight to bag collection where Abi somehow managed to gain an unexpected “husband”!!!. We met our guides, took some photos and then got on the bus to go to our hotel. We were all very tired so after some much needed pizza, we were very quickly in bed and going to sleep. The next morning and we are all freshly revived after a good nights sleep and some tea, coffee and toast. Packed and on the road. The next leg to our journey and we are all full of every and excitement, eager to learn and enjoy the amazing experience we are all about to share.
Ashleigh and Abi

Day 1: 03/07/17 We arrived at school at midnight to drive to the airport.
