We all want to write down her recipes and cook the Ghanaian food at home. We got on the monster bus at 8am to visit Elmina castle and market with our buddies. Meanwhile Ms G went to get her grammy leg sorted out at a doctors. It is already much better. Our tour guide told us about what happened in the castle regarding slavery and showed us each of the rooms where slaves were held. We even went into the death room misbehaving slaves were left to die. We were locked in to show us how it would feel. The experience was interesting, eye – opening and very moving. The castle was harrowing and yet outside was golden sand, pal trees and the beautiful ocean.

We took a packed lunch and travelled along the bumpy road to Dwabor. At Dwabor we met up wit the other team and helped with their sports day. The sports day was super organised and the children were much more sensible and calm than our Ayensudo kids! We then had a tour of the cocoa beans. They were very sweet.

The drive back to Ayensudo was accompanied by the sounds of banging Ghanaian tunes in which we think one of the choruses may be “ Me and my goat” We may be wrong but our buddies found it amusing.

On return, more wonderful piping hot food of rice balls and chicken. After dinner, we awarded star of the day to Ollie for providing us with well needed Oreos. Archie continued his reign as our dip after posing for muscle shots and comprising guns with the massive Isee. As night drew in, the bugs arrived and we kept ourselves amused with games and clapping songs with the small children of the village who rarely leave our side!

Sarah G

Day 7 – Thursday 6 / 04 / 17 Today we started with another fab breakfast of scrambled eggs, avocado and beans with bread cooked by the wonderful Augustina.
